Boundaries - how can they help me?

Boundaries can be made internally and externally to promote good mental and emotional wellbeing.

An internal boundary to promote good mental and emotional well being, may be to change how you wind down for the evening, turning off mobile phones, computers etc at least two hours before bedtime to ensure a good nights rest.

It maybe having the courage to end a stressful relationship which makes you feel less than or insecure.

External boundary may be creating a safe space for yourself where you feel safe to express your emotions.

Deciding whether other people have access to your belongings or finances.

Boundaries will help you become in control of your life, it gives you stability. It helps your emotional well being when life becomes overwhelming. It helps relieve stress. It helps prevent negative influences from others such as gas lighting, bullying, intimidating and controlling behaviours.
